It was founded on January 20, 1990 and is an independent, apolitical and non-governmental student organization, dedicated to representing and supporting students of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova.

Craiova Medical Students Society (SSMC) brings together medical students in a united, active, and impact-oriented community. Through educational initiatives, health campaigns, and volunteer projects, the organization creates contexts where ideas take shape and student engagement becomes visible in the community.
